On our blog we’ve shared plenty about the proposal behind our experience—what makes it different, why it feels so intimate, and how it reimagines the typical tango show in Buenos Aires. But there’s an essential part we haven’t highlighted yet: the artists behind Secreto tango society.

They are the ones who give life to every scene, every note, every embrace. This is not a random lineup of performers but a handpicked ensemble of dancers, musicians, and creators who carry tango’s soul in everything they do. With them, the stage turns into a living dialogue between tradition and innovation, reminding us that tango is not just performed—it’s felt, shared, and experienced.

What is Secreto Tango Society and Why is it Different?

Maybe you’ve already been to our tango show in Buenos Aires, or maybe you’re just curious about what makes Secreto Tango Society unique. Either way, here’s what you need to know.

Secreto was born as a response to the big, mass-market productions where tango risks losing its intimacy. Instead of grand stages and flashy lights, we focus on what tango has always been about: connection, emotion, and storytelling. Our format is small, personal, and deeply curated, designed for people who want to feel tango rather than just watch it.

Every detail, from the way the music surrounds the room to the way the dancers embrace, has been thought out to recover the soul of tango. That’s why Secreto Tango Society isn’t just another show. It’s an invitation to experience the dance in its purest, most authentic form.

Meet the Artists of Secreto Tango Society

When we talk about the artists behind Secreto Tango Society, we don’t just mean the dancers and musicians you see on stage. We mean everyone who makes the experience possible: from producers and directors to composers and choreographers. Each one of them plays a key role in shaping a show that feels intimate, authentic, and alive.

At the heart (or should i say mind) of it all is Alex Pels, the general producer of Secreto. After creating cultural experiences like Fogón Asado and Sherpa Food Tours, Alex turned his attention to tango with a clear mission: to rescue its intimacy and emotional truth. Instead of the large, impersonal shows that dominate the scene, he envisioned Secreto as something smaller, curated, and deeply moving. His vision is the foundation of everything you’ll see and feel during the performance.

From there, the stage comes alive thanks to the voices, instruments, and movements of extraordinary tango professionals—each of them chosen not just for their skill, but for their ability to tell stories through music and dance. In the following sections, we’ll introduce you to these artists one by one, and show you how their individual journeys come together to form the unique spirit of Secreto Tango Society.

The voice: Alicia Vignola

Alicia Vignola, the singer, is one of Argentina’s most powerful and evocative tango voices. She has performed in Buenos Aires’ most important productions and was nominated for the prestigious Premio Hugo as Best Leading Actress. Her album Azsulado also earned her a nomination at the Premios Gardel. On stage, she doesn’t just sing tango, she becomes tango, with an intensity and vulnerability that captivate every audience.

The Music: Fulvio Giraudo and Horacio Romo

Fulvio Giraudo is a pianist and composer who has been a pillar of tango music for more than 25 years. He’s played in world-renowned ensembles such as Sexteto Mayor, Quinteto Grande, and Rascasuelos, touring across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. His compositions have appeared in films, musicals, and television, giving his music a reach far beyond the stage. In Secreto, his piano provides both elegance and fire, grounding the show in authenticity.

Horacio Romo is a bandoneonist of international renown, celebrated for his haunting and passionate playing. He has served as musical director and principal bandoneonist in acclaimed shows like Tango Argentino, Tango Pasión, and Forever Tango. He has also performed Piazzolla’s Bandoneón Concerto with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, earning an Emmy Award. His sound is unmistakable, overflowing with depth and soul.

The World Champions: Fernando Rodríguez & Estefanía Gómez

World Tango Stage Champions in 2019, Fernando and Estefanía are dancers and choreographers whose artistry has taken them around the globe. They’ve worked with productions like Tango Lovers and toured extensively across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Their breathtaking precision and undeniable connection make them one of the most respected stage couples in tango today, now serving as judges in international competitions.

Pablo Destito is an award-winning audiovisual director and co-founder of Mulata Films, with nominations at the International Emmy Awards and beyond. Together, these artists form more than just a cast: they are the soul of Secreto Tango Society. Each note, each step, each light cue is part of a shared mission: to bring tango back to its essence. Here, the genre isn’t about spectacle or excess. As we said, it is all about intimacy, tension, and truth.

Though we see these performers shine during the show, the real connection starts much earlier. It starts in the quiet focus of the dressing room and the nervous excitement of the warm-up. Take a look at the human side of our artists, moments before the show begins:
